Kinda similar to your story...
One day we ran out of oil, and while I was half asleep in bed one morning, she told me to turn the oven on and leave the door of the oven open when I got home from school if it was cold.
What I THOUGHT she said was "Turn on the oven before you go to school."
Needless to say, our oven was set to 400 degrees for a solid 8-9 hours. My mommy flipped when she found out what I did.
She doesn't tell me anything when I'm half-asleep anymore. Dunno why. /shrug
